Honesty over excellency

“The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.”

2 - Reflect
I remember that I had started a job using false references. I had said I had experience in jobs that were not true, just because I thought that I would not have been able to get the position any other way. Not only had I exaggerated my employment history, but I had also involved other people to give me references and I had not even warned them. The truth is that I acted out of fear, in a wrongful way and used lies as a shield. Soon the truth came to light, when they asked me to do things at work that I had said I knew how to do and could not resolve it in the time allotted. My boss did not scold me, she just felt disappointed. Everything would have been simpler if I simply told the truth, regardless, they could have trained me in time.

How many times have we felt compelled to tell a lie so as not to accept the truth? Sometimes, we do not do it with malice, but hiding something can become a disturbing situation. Honesty will always be the best choice, perhaps recognizing that we do not know something or do not understand how it is done, we will seek help and advice from our brothers and God will delight in us for being honest with ourselves and others.
