The lack of respect

“And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.”
Isaiah 3:5

Lack of respect is commonplace these days. We hear (and sometimes voice) insults in arguments, we question the abilities of the elderly, we make fun of the elderly. Respect has been lost in many ways, most of all, respect for good manners and the Christian faith. Those of us who have been educated in the love and word of Christ Our Lord, must be tolerant of differences and not assault our neighbor without reason. We can have differences of opinions or actions and yet we must celebrate our diversity. It is pointless to be disrespectful, offend, or even insult or violate another person, it will always be better to talk it out and consider different opinions.

If we segregate those who think differently, or fail to consider the opinion of our neighbors because they are different from ours, we are not acting like good brethren. We will not be in communion and we will distance ourselves from the true faith, love, and understanding. How many times have we witnessed young people who do not respect their elders? Elders have walked the paths before our arrival and we must honor them and make them feel part of our development, as children, as grandchildren, and as colleagues. They will feel comfortable being valued, let's not forget that it is a divine mandate.
