Respect for the environment
“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein; for he has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the rivers.”

2 - Reflect
We have taken for granted that nature will always provide and wil be the setting of our development as a society, but we have made a mistake. Every day we discard thousands of plastic bottles that end up in rivers and seas, affecting birds and fish. We waste food constantly, just to avoid repeating the same meals in one week or simply because we have a taste for something else. We use exorbitant amounts of water: we take extended baths or we wash our teeth leaving the tap running when there are people in other parts of the World who walk for up to eight hours a day to look for drinking water.
God has given us a land created for our well-being and has left its use at our mercy, but we are not being careful about the environment that surrounds us. There will come a day when the treasure, which has been entrusted to us with so much love, will collapse. We must be more aware of the land where we tread, of the water we can drink today, of the Sun that rises at dawn, because without them life will not be possible. We must reflect on its care in our churches, in our homes, and in educational settings. Together we can serve Our Father and His divine work.
