The nostalgia of the end
“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38-39

2 - Reflect
My father was dying but I did not want to accept it. He had contracted a terminal disease while still being a young adult, we had not lived through half of the things I wanted to do with him. He had not seen me receive my diploma in college, nor had we been able to share my anxiety about my first love, my fears in new jobs. He could not meet my children, nor enjoy my family, and I could not forgive our Lord for that.
I spent days and months without praying, without going to Church, I was furious with His decision. I did not understand why He would take my father, a good and healthy man, our family's support. I was very angry and even blasphemed His name. It was not until one day that I walked by the Church and met Father Pedro. He asked me why I did not go to church for so long and I told him about my pain. He told me that only in God's House would I find my consolation and so it was, I started going every weekend, I opened my heart and the pain soon began to disappear. Nothing and no one could give my father back to me, but I knew that he was in God's hands, that with his departure I would learn many things, and that he would always be by my side.
