Daily bread
"for we brought nothing into the world, so that we can take nothing out of it; but if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these."

We often do not truly measure what it means to have food at our disposal every day. This happens even as a family, when the children refuse to finish their plates because they ate some candy beforehand, and they get restless and upset. Also, when we skip dinner because we are too tired from our schedules. Sometimes we do not realize that in those times when we may reject a dinner, there are people who are on the streets digging through the trash can to get something to eat.
When we do not thank God properly for food or when we do not share the family table due to laziness or fatigue, we are being mean. It may be that others have to face a path of austerity, where lack is normal, and we must be attentive to be able to help them. Being in solidarity with those who have less also means being grateful. Saying a prayer before eating food is a good way to approach the Lord and show gratitude for what He gives us every day. We also lead our children by example, so they can see the effort involved in bringing food to the table.
