The indulgence of my days

2 - Reflect
I used to be a very carefree and somewhat selfish person, always putting my needs above those of my brothers. My parents taught us Christian beliefs in my home, but somehow I always managed to avoid them. I was ignoring their advice and I was not interested in sharing things like going to Mass every Sunday with my family. Adolescence was not a pleasant stage, I was flaky in my choices, and I could not find any way to form a lasting bond with others in a caring or supportive way. Little by little I was falling into a place that I thought I could not leave.
In adulthood I realized it was time to learn my lesson, that I had to go back to look at and pay attention to what I had left in the past. The ways in which I had mistreated my parents had more to do with an act of rebellion than with my commitment to God. I knew that I would return to His path, that without His advice I would not amount to anything. It often takes time to recognize the value that some people or lessons have in our lives, we play the fool when others try to show us a truth different from our own. But what is important is to remain in the Lord's love, without him our future will be uncertain.
