"There are those who only expect to receive colorful candy," my grandmother said with determination. She was referring to those Christians who only want to enjoy the good times and who, when facing an upsetting setback, resent their love for God. They question it, they get offended, they begin to rant about their belief and about their own faith and they want to question the devotion of others. Their selfish approach does not take into account that they will receive the candy but they will also have to take bitter drinks, both them and, many times, those they love the most.
It is not that God is bad or that He has forgotten us, but rather He will show us blessings but will reward us after having gone through pain and loss. Because not everything will be celebration and well-being and when the pain arrives, our faith will be put to the test and it will be then that we will need to show our greatest loyalty. If we let our faith falter or doubt the will of our Father, we will be turning our distrust or our skepticism into a way of life, and every time we will be more conflicted with what is happening to us. Taking responsibility for what we can do and the faithful we will help become Christians, if we do not question the will of God, it will be the path we must take.
