Appearances
“We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to be proud of us, so that you may be able to answer those who pride themselves on a man’s position and not on his heart.”

2 - Reflect
It is clear that today's societies have imposed physical standards that many use as role models, but we should ask ourselves: at what cost do we maintain an appearance of something we are not? We are alert to the latest trends in fashion, to the cars that just came on the market, to the love affairs of movie stars, but are we really alert to what happens around us? To the people who die every day from diseases that can be treated but do not have the necessary means to do so, for children who are hungry and can not access education freely, for the homeless who sleep in our streets. We all can change the way we think, downplaying the superficial issues and placing our focus on what we need to modify as a community in order to be better.
We are not the car that we drive, nor the clothes we wear, not even what we study or where we work. We are people made in the image and likeness of our Heavenly Father, to whom we must pay tribute with our actions. The Almighty will judge us by what is inside us, by our attitudes of love and kindness towards our brethren, by how good of a Christian example we can be in our time on this Earth. The things that we can do for our neighbor in an altruistic way will be the ones that serve the Lord's grace.
