Don't Let Routine Keep You from Love

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

2 - Reflect
In my youth, our basketball coach used to make us practice a particular play that we repeated over and over again in every practice.

We would set up on the court to do a kind of "lock down" where the goal was to get the ball back and quickly move into an attacking position with few passes.

It annoyed us to constantly do the same thing. In a certain sense, it bored us and we wondered why he insisted so much on that move.

At a decisive moment in the tournament, our coach met with us and said: "To achieve our goal, we will have to do the play we have been rehearsing for so long. But this play will only work if you believe in it, if you feel it, otherwise it is impossible".

The play went perfectly and we won that game. Our coach's words have always stuck with me and I can draw a parallel with our relationship with the Lord.

Sometimes we can be overwhelmed by routine, repeating the same actions many times can cause us to lose motivation and concentration in what we are doing, giving a mechanical tinge to our actions.

We must, then, revitalize our Faith, to face every obligation (no matter how small or insignificant it may seem to us) from our absolute Love in Christ and His Word.

If we think that our actions are to please God and serve His purpose, our tasks will take on a unique and wonderful character that will fill us with hope and joy.
