A very descriptive phrase that I heard was, "How can I not forgive, if He forgave us first." It is logical, right? But it becomes complicated. One of the Bible stories that clearly describes forgiveness is that of Joseph.
Let's remember it a little. Joseph was Jacob's son, he had eleven brothers of whom he was his father's favorite. His brothers, seeing this difference, opted to deceive and abandoned him. When they passed a caravan with merchants from Egypt, they sold him. Joseph is made a slave, and God gives him the gift of interpreting dreams, this was very helpful for the pharaoh who appointed him in charge of a very important position in Egypt. After seven years of abundance, hunger came, as Joseph had predicted. His brothers came to Egypt to buy wheat, he recognized them, but they did not recognize him.
Then Joseph managed to be able to dine with them and receive an explanation. The brothers are repentant and Joseph decides to forgive them.
No matter what circumstance you are experiencing today, forgiveness frees you, gives you peace, and takes you to the higher places with God. I encourage you to leave that heavy burden and let Him make everything new in your life. There are plans for your welfare, DO NOT FORGET IT.
