Hiding emotions

2 - Reflect
It has become normal to hide emotions. Silence the soul when it is in pain, numb the heart to avoid feeling pain. I was sitting in a bar, after work, really tired. I had had a very long day, or rather, a day in which I would have preferred to go to bed early and not think about anything. I decided to go for a coffee to clear myself, I could see around myself how at nearby tables there were also men and women exhausted by the activities of their day, but I stopped a few minutes to look at a woman and I could see that she was crying. She did it as if in secret, so nobody would see it.
Crying in public for many can be embarrassing. I thought about what that would have to do with what happened to her, from a distance, because I did not want to bother her. But then I remembered that as a Brother I should help her, maybe I would just ask her if she needed anything. Many had already noticed that the woman was crying, but they seemed to ignore her. Finally, I approached her and asked her about her pain. It was worth my courage because I find out that she was distressed because her husband had died. I just let her tell me what had happened and she began to feel better. Sometimes we are so immersed in our own lives that we lose sight of the fact that just by speaking can we help our neighbor heal.
