2 - Reflect
We are often so stubborn that we will not forgive someone for something they have done to us, and we forget to be a little more compassionate. Surely our circumstances when that person disappointed us were very different from the ones we are currently experiencing and the time that has passed has made some changes. Perhaps our neighbor has thought about it or has a different view, they may have matured and see things from another perspective. The truth is that we can never know those things if we do not get a little closer, if we cannot give our forgiveness.
Sometimes it's not just about forgetting everything and moving on, but about creating an encounter with our brethren and talking about what separated us. Also, for us to reconsider what it was that offended each of us and see how we can amend it in the future. God will witness our openness, our kindness of spirit in order to prepare us for a sincere encounter with the other person. When we find ourselves in that situation, we should remember that: "To err is human and to forgive is divine." We must not allow our anger of the past to hold us as prisoners of our present and future.
